Strict Heat Treatment Process P20 S Steel Complete Material - China

P20+S Steel is a tool steel commonly used in mold manufacturing, with good toughness and wear resistance.

Its heat treatment process generally includes the following steps:

1 - Preheating: Before heating, preheat the P20+S Steel to about 300-500°C to avoid internal stress caused by sudden temperature changes.

2 - Heating: Heat the P20+S steel evenly to the quenching temperature, generally in the range of 830-860°C.

At this temperature, the steel undergoes austenitization.

3 - Holding: Hold at the quenching temperature for a period of time (usually 1-2 hours) to ensure that the internal structure of the steel is uniform.

4 - Quenching: Rapidly immerse the steel in a cooling medium such as oil or brine to quickly cool it down, thereby forming a martensitic structure.

After quenching, the steel becomes very hard, but also brittle.

5 - Tempering: Temper the quenched steel, heat it to 550-650°C, and keep it for an appropriate time (generally 1-2 hours) to reduce internal stress, improve toughness, and reduce brittleness.

6 - Cooling: Cool naturally to room temperature after tempering.

7 - Inspection and measurement: Inspect the hardness and other properties of the heat-treated steel to ensure that it meets the design requirements.

The above process can be adjusted according to the specific use requirements to ensure that the comprehensive performance of P20+S steel reaches the best state.
