GB 42CrMo alloy steel neutral salt bath vanadium treatment process, 42CrMo steel can obtain carbide layer after neutral salt bath vanadium treatment.

1 - Carbon vanadium compound, the layer has uniform structure, good continuity and density, uniform thickness, dense structure, high microhardness and high wear resistance, and greatly improved surface hardness, wear resistance and anti-adhesion properties.

2 - The solubility of VC in austenite is higher than its solubility in ferrite.

As the temperature decreases, VC precipitates from ferrite, strengthening the alloy and refining the grains, and the compound layer shows higher hardness.

GB 42CrMo alloy steel belongs to high-carbon high-chromium ledeburite steel, with a high carbide content of about 20%, and often unevenly distributed in bands or nets, with serious segregation.

Conventional heat treatment is difficult to change the state of carbide segregation, which seriously affects the mechanical properties of steel and the service life of the mold.

The shape and size of carbides also have a great influence on the performance of steel.

In particular, large sharp-angle carbides have a greater splitting effect on the steel matrix and often become the source of fatigue fracture.

Therefore, the raw material rolled steel must be forged to fully crush the eutectic carbides, making them small and evenly distributed, and the fiber structure surrounds the cavity or is distributed in an undirected manner, thereby improving the transverse mechanical properties of the steel.

During forging, the steel billet is upset and drawn multiple times from different directions, and the "two light and one heavy" forging method is adopted, that is, the billet should be struck lightly at the beginning of forging to prevent breakage, and it can be struck heavily at the intermediate temperature of 980 ~ 1 020 ℃ to ensure the crushing of carbides.

GB 42CrMo alloy steel is not forged, and solid solution double refinement treatment is adopted, that is, two-stage preheating at about 500 ℃ and 800 ℃, solid solution treatment at 1 100 ~ 1 150 ℃, quenching in hot oil or isothermal quenching, high temperature tempering at 750 ℃, heating at 960 ℃ and oil cooling after machining for final heat treatment, which can also refine carbides, round edges and corners, and refine grains.
