the following are the general process and key points of skd5 steel machining process: **cutting**

- **roughing**: use large feed rate and large cutting depth for roughing to remove most of the excess.

during roughing, the cutting speed can be selected between 50-100m/min, the feed rate is 0.2-0.5mm/r, and the cutting depth is 3-5mm according to the conditions of the tool and equipment.

- **semi-finishing**: during semi-finishing, the cutting speed can be appropriately increased, generally between 80-120m/min, the feed rate is reduced to 0.1-0.3mm/r, the cutting depth is 0.5-1.5mm, and a machining allowance of 0.5-1mm is left for finishing.

- **finishing**: during finishing, dimensional accuracy and surface quality must be guaranteed.

the cutting speed can be 100-150m/min, the feed rate can be 0.05-0.15mm/r, and the cutting depth can be 0.1-0.3mm.

for some parts with higher precision requirements, multiple passes can be used for processing.
