1.2379 is a high-carbon and high-chromium alloy tool steel.

It has high hardness and wear resistance after heat treatment, and has the characteristics of strong hardenability and good dimensional stability.

Thermal processing specifications

Start temperature 1050°C, end temperature 850°C, furnace cold.

Soft annealing specifications

Under protective gas, heat to 800~850°C, cool to 600°C at a cooling rate of 10°C/h, and then air cool.

The hardness is ≤250HBw.

Stress Relief

If you want to eliminate the residual stress generated after rough machining, the mold should be heated to 650°C, kept warm for 2 hours, then cooled to 500°C, and then empty out of the furnace.

Quenching and tempering specifications

The first preheating temperature is 550~600°C, and every 25mm is kept for about 30min; the second preheating temperature is 800~850°C, and every 25mm is kept for about 30min; the austenitizing temperature is 975~1040°C, and every 25mm is kept for about 30min.

30min, oil (40~70°C) or gas cooling, temper immediately after cooling to 50~70mm.

1) Low-temperature tempering: Tempering temperature 150 ~200℃, every 25mm should be kept for more than about 60mín, empty, hardness ≥61HRC.

For low-temperature tempering, a lower austenitizing temperature of 975 ~1025°C should be used.

2) High-temperature tempering: Tempering temperature is 480~540℃, hold for more than 60 minutes every 25mm, air cooling, tempering more than twice, hardness ≥58HRC.

For high temperature tempering, a higher austenitizing temperature of 1000 ~1040°C should be used.
