Oilseeds Pretreatment Oilseeds pretreatment is aimed to remove

impurities in oilseeds and make them into materials with certain

structure and performance, thus to meet different oil processing

process.

Oilseeds pretreatment mainly contains the following processes:

cleaning, hulling, cracking, softening, flaking, expanding, and cooking

and so on.

1 - Oilseeds’ cleaningCleaning process means to remove

impurities in oilseeds such as branches and leaves, shells,

hemp ropes, metal, stoned and dust and so on.

The main

processes contain: screening separation, aspiration,

magnetic, de-stoning and de-dusting and so on.

Screening separation can remove big impurities and small

impurities.

The main equipment is vibrating screen.

Aspiration can remove light impurities and dust, and also

can remove some heavy impurities like metal and small

stones.

The main equipment is aspiration machine.

Magnetic can remove metal impurities.

The main equipment is

magnetic selector.

De-stoning can remove heavy impurities like stones.

The main

equipment is specific-gravity stoner.

De-dusting can remove dust produced in workshop and improve

work environment of workshop.

The main equipments are brake

cron and fan.

2 - Oilseeds’ hulling

Hulling can improve oil extraction rate and qualities of

crude oil and cake meal, reduce equipments’ wear degree and

increase equipments’ valid outputs.

Disc huller is mainly used to hull sunflowers, and also to

hull bancoul nuts, tea seeds and walnuts.

After hulling,

kernel husk separator is needed to do kernel husk

separation.

Roll huller is mainly used to hull castor seeds, and there

is no need to do kernel husk separation after hulling.

There is special huller for peanuts.

3 - Oilseeds’ cracking

Oilseeds’ cracking is aimed to make oilseeds have certain

particle size in order to meet the flaking standard.

After

cracking, oilseeds’ surface area increases, conducive to

temperature and moisture transfer when softening, thus to

improve softening effect.

Cracking equipment is toothed

4 - Oilseeds’ softening

Oilseeds’ softening is aimed to make oilseeds have

appropriate elastic-plastic by adjusting the oil temperature

and moisture, reduce the fines content and sticking

phenomenon during flaking and ensure the quality of the

flake tablets.

Softening equipment mainly is drum softening

pot.

Cooker also has the role of softening.

5 - Oilseeds’ flaking

Oilseeds’ flaking is aimed to break oilseeds’ cell tissue,

increase oilseeds’ surface area and shorten oil outflow

journey, conducive to oil extraction and cooker effect.

Flaking equipment mainly is hydraulic mill.

6 - Oilseeds’ expanding

Oilseeds’ expanding is a process which turns cracked,

pressed or complete oilseeds into multihole puffed materials

with extrusion equipment.

After expanding, oilseeds’ unit

weight increases, cell tissue is completely broken, cell

inside has more free fats and penetrability of solvent to

material layer is improved when leaching, raising leaching

rate and shortening leaching time.

Puffing process

passivates fat oxidase, phospholipase and other enzymes in

oilseeds and makes the leached crude oil acid value reduce

and the content of nonhydratable phospholipids decrease,

improving the quality of leached crude oil.

Expanding equipment mainly is extruder.

7 - Oilseeds’ cooking

Oilseeds’ cooking is aimed to break the oilseeds’ cells,

denature the protein and gather grease through the

adjustment of temperature and moisture.

After the above

treatment, oil viscosity and surface tension is reduced, the

elastic and plastic material billet is adjusted and enzymes

are passivated.

Cooking equipment mainly is cooker.
