Does the ' B' side of the panel have a cosmetic ( surface quality)

requirement? If not, you could look at using External Gas Molding ( EGM)

, where nitrogen gas is applied in the form of a pressure cushion over

the whole ( or part) of the surface area.

This can have the effect of

distributing a packing pressure evenly across the whole plastic part and

compensating for material shrinkage with gas.

It can also reduce the

injection molding cycle time, reduce material and reduce the clamp force

requirement ( possibly machine size too) .

Finally, EGM can produce

excellent sink- free surface quality on the ' A' side and greatly

increase design freedom as far as ribs and bosses are concerned - you

can introduce injection mold ribs where they would otherwise be

unacceptable and is possible to reduce wall thickness of the part and/

or increase wall: rib thickness ratio to 1: 1 - Adjusting an existing

plastic injection mold for EGM can be a difficult, if you have a number

of moving parts in the injection mold.
