Carbon dioxide is a kind of carbon and oxygen compound.

Its chemical formula is CO2 - Its chemical formula is 44.0095 [1].

It is a colorless, tasteless [2] or colorless, odorless (no smell) and slightly sour [3] gas under normal temperature and pressure.

It is also a common greenhouse gas [4], and also a component of air (accounting for 0.03% - 0.04% of the total volume of the atmosphere [5]).

In terms of physical properties, the boiling point of carbon dioxide is - 78.5 ℃, the melting point is - 56.6 ℃, the density of carbon dioxide is higher than that of air (under standard conditions), and it is soluble in water.

In terms of chemical properties, carbon dioxide is not active in chemical properties, has high thermal stability (only 1.8% decomposition at 2000 ℃), cannot burn, and generally does not support combustion.

It belongs to acid oxide, and has the generality of acid oxide, because it reacts with water to produce carbonic acid, which is the anhydrides of carbonic acid.
